Dealing with a break-up is never easy.

As much as you don’t want to dwell on the hurt and pain, you can’t just snap your fingers and “shake it off”. Or try to get over someone by getting under a different someone. That makes things even more complicated especially when you don’t deal with the hurt first.

There is no shortcut to moving on.

If it was a significant relationship, you must honour the bond that once was and give yourself time to grieve the love lost. You need to process everything that happened and feel it all in order to free the emotions so that they no longer have power over you.

This is the time to put yourself first. Focus on you: your needs, your wellbeing (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual), your happiness. This is an extraordinary opportunity for growth so don’t squander it. Spend the time getting reacquainted with yourself again. Do what you love. Indulge in what makes your heart sing. And let yourself cry when you really must.

You can’t rush the process.

Even the most patient, well-intentioned friends may not be able to pull you out of your funk until you decide you are ready for a change.

If you’re still struggling to get over your ex, we hope the following quotes will inspire and empower you to let go and move on to the next happy chapter of your life.
